SportsAid is seeking a new Chair of Trustees to lead the charity into an exciting new chapter as we approach our 50th anniversary in 2026.
The deadline for applications has now been extended to Friday 26 September 2025.
Since 1976, SportsAid has been the charity championing the next generation of British athletes, providing financial support, recognition and personal development opportunities to help young sports people reach their potential.
Many of the UK’s most iconic athletes, including Sir Mo Farah, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Ellie Simmonds and Ade Adepitan, received a SportsAid award early in their careers.
Today, with HRH The Princess of Wales as our Patron, we continue to play a vital role in the lives of emerging talent across more than 60 sports.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of British sport.
We are looking for a dynamic and inclusive leader who shares our values and passion for supporting young people.
The new Chair will lead our Board of Trustees, working closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team to deliver our mission and five-year strategy.
The role also includes acting as a key ambassador for the charity, helping to build relationships and raise awareness of our work across sport, business, and wider society.
We welcome applications from individuals with significant board experience, ideally as a Chair or in another senior leadership role.
Experience within the charity sector, commercial world, or a National Governing Body of Sport would be valuable.
Above all, we are looking for someone who brings strategic insight, sound judgement, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of young athletes.
You do not need to be a sports expert, but you will have a desire to help young people and a willingness to get stuck in. You can make a difference.
The minimum commitment as a board member will be to attend four board meetings per year (typically held in London but with the facility to join remotely if necessary) plus two half-day induction sessions and at least one half-day strategy planning session.
There will likely be an additional time commitment to attend events representing SportsAid. Board positions are unremunerated but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed
SportsAid is committed to ensuring our leadership reflects the diversity of the young people we support. We actively encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and communities.
Please apply by emailing your CV with an outline of how your skills and experience meet the specification of this Chair of Trustees role and why you are interested in joining SportsAid to trustees@sportsaid.org.uk by 5pm Friday 26 September 2025.
