SportsAid has provided financial help and recognition to British sports people since 1976. The charity was the major funding source for most of the country’s top athletes until the arrival of National Lottery support in 1997. SportsAid’s role changed to focusing on talented young athletes and this remains the case today with over 1,000 emerging sports stars receiving awards each year.

The charity has a rich history having supported many of the country’s most successful athletes at a crucial time in their personal and sporting development. The importance of SportsAid’s role was further re-affirmed last summer when 141 medals were won for Team GB and ParalympicsGB across the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games by previous recipients of the charity’s help.

Athlete Liaison and Partner Engagement Manager

The Athlete Liaison and Partner Engagement Manager will take on the responsibility of connecting and engaging with those people and organisations that support SportsAid’s work and the diverse cohort of athletes who benefit from the charity’s help. They will be at the heart of SportsAid’s Mission (to encourage, enable and empower the next generation of athletes to achieve their ambitions in sport and life) and will have the opportunity to link into a range of projects, partnerships and events.

The Athlete Liaison and Partner Engagement Manager will be responsible for regular communication with supported athletes, including seeking updates on their performances and progress and collating relevant information for their athlete profiles. They will also organise and brief athletes to attend various events, including the charity’s workshops, the annual One-to-Watch Award and SportsAid Week - the charity’s annual week of activation and engagement.

To apply, please read the advert and job description and email your CV with an outline of how you fit the specification for this role to jobs@sportsaid.org.uk. The deadline is Monday 21 November.

Board of Trustees

SportsAid is looking to strengthen athlete representation at Board level - particularly with experience of para sport and an understanding of the issues facing sportspeople with disabilities. The charity is keen to hear from para athletes, perhaps quite recently retired, with a strong understanding of the demands and opportunities of performance sport. They will be able to clearly represent an athlete perspective; and be aware of current issues that athletes may face.

Please read the advert here. A role description is available on request from trustees@sportsaid.org.uk.

SportsAid is also seeking a candidate with strengths in any of the following areas: fundraising and business development; charitable major donor giving; and marketing communications (especially digital). The candidate will probably have experience in management and leadership roles and be keen to contribute their expertise.

Please read the advert here. A role description is available on request from trustees@sportsaid.org.uk.

These roles are directly connected to the purpose and passion of SportsAid’s work and a rare opportunity to join a committed and driven team at an exciting time. The candidates will join the Board (currently made up of eight Trustees) in working with an effective executive team to support the charity’s work, to plan for the future and to ensure the highest standards of integrity and good governance.

To apply for either of these Trustee roles, please email your CV with an outline of why you are interested to trustees@sportsaid.org.uk. The deadline is Monday 21 November.
