Amber Anning will be the youngest member of the British Athletics squad preparing to face the continent’s finest at the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships in March. The 18-year-old secured her spot after winning silver in the 400m at the British Athletics Indoor Championships earlier this month. Her time of 53.00 seconds doubled up as national junior indoor record as well as the European Indoor qualifying mark.
Mark Lillie, Mark Davies and Alison Odell CBE recently stepped down from SportsAid’s Board of Trustees after making invaluable contributions to the charity. Lillie was Chair and came into contact with SportsAid as part of London’s bid for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Davies is Chair of Archery GB and British Rowing. Odell leaves a lasting legacy in the impact being made through the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme.
With the help of SportsAid, I did my thing. I didn’t come from a wealthy family, and there were times when I thought ‘I need a job’ but I stuck to my swimming. Thankfully it did pay off. It's about gambling and making sacrifices. I put a high risk in myself and invested the time in what was going to make the difference to my swimming.
