Yorkshire & Humberside party to celebrate £2 million of fundraising

Posted on 12 Jun 2008

On 29th May 2008, in the magnificent surroundings of Harewood House stately home, the Yorkshire & Humberside (Y&H) SportsAid fundraisers and partners celebrated, having reached the £2million mark.

Guests were kindly invited by SportsAid Y&H President, The Right Honourable Earl of Harewood KBE and Honorary Vice President Viscount Lascelles to the event which was sponsored by Yorkshire Forward.  They enjoyed a drinks reception and speeches in the main house, delivered by inspirational SportsAid Y&H figure heads, Bernard Atha CBE and Cyril Villiers MBE, as well as the Head of Culture and Major Events, Neil Jenkinson from Yorkshire Forward.

Following the speeches, the party moved down to the Courtyard to enjoy a delicious buffet and spectacular displays from some of the region’s and country’s most talented judo players and fencers.  Afterwards, guests were able to meet and greet these sporting hopefuls and their coaches, to gain an insight into the lives of those who aim to make it to the top.

In the last year, Yorkshire and Humberside has helped over two hundred and fifty athletes to the sum of £126,000 and continues to encourage new supporters to increase the impact of SportsAid’s charitable work.
