Of the 52 athletes competing in Vancouver 29 have or are currently supported by SportsAid and/or TASS. We’ve been following the action – here’s a snapshot of what some of the athletes have achieved:

Amy Williams, Skeleton – Team GB’s golden girl. Amy exceeded her own expectations to bring home Britain’s first individual Olympic Winter Games gold medal for 30 years.

Paula Walker and Kelly Thomas, Bobsleigh – the young pair gave a good performance finishing in 11th place – higher than their world ranking. There was disappointment for Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke when a crash on their third run put them out the competition.

Jack Whelbourne, Short Track Speed Skating - In the men’s 1500 meters, Jack avoided a last-lap pileup in the qualification round to finish third in his heat with a time of 2:14.972 and advance to the semi-finals.  He then finished fifth in his semi-final heat with a time of 2:17.156 and narrowly missed qualifying for the B Final.

Nick Buckland and Penny Coombes, Ice Dance – The duo gained a personal best score of 71.60 in the free skate to conclude their competition with a total score of 143.61, finishing in 20th position.

David King and Stacey Kemp, Pairs Figure Skating - The Olympic debutants achieved a personal best score of 139.94 to finish 16th.

Ed Drake, Alpine Skiing - Ed secured his highest Olympic Winter Games finish yet with 32nd in the Super-G.

Ben Kilner, Snowboarding - Ben finished in 18th place in his first Olympic Games. At the age of 21 he’s looking forward to at least two more Games to improve on this performance.
