SportsAid is very happy to officially announce that Bob Gullett has been appointed Chairman of the London region.

As a Director of Newton Investment Management since 2000, he is responsible for the company’s global insurance sector and will bring a wealth of knowledge of the corporate world, which is an important aspect of the charity’s support base, to SportsAid London.

“I am extremely excited to join SportsAid and get involved in the work that the charity is doing in London. There is great potential within the region and I hope I can bring a refreshing insight to take things forward in the next year.”

As a keen sportsman, Bob shares both a passion and excitement for sport, which many of SportsAid’s young talented athletes will be able to relate to.

“London has many young talented sportsmen and women that I look forward to working with, as well as promoting their achievements to the rest of the public.”

Several of the more memorable sporting achievements in his life include:

In 1978 he represented the US in the Half-Ton World Sailing Championships; In 2001 he ran the West Highland Way (the 54 mile Caledonian Challenge – his team finishing 4th); In 2003, he rowed across the English Channel in a single scull (accompanying GB Olympic Silver Medalist Guin Batten in setting the record); And, in 2004, he competed in the Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon (swimming a mile across Loch Tay, hill-running 7 Munroes, kayaking 12 miles down Loch Tay and then about a 32 mile cycle around it).

Outside of his professional life he takes an active role in sporting organisations including previous roles on the committee of the British Level Rating Association and as Chair of Thames Rowing Club.
