Local Heroes Inspire Business and Community
Posted on 14 Aug 2008
Lloyds TSB has been enjoying getting to know their Local Heroes across the country. Since launching the scheme in partnership with SportsAid earlier in the year, the Tier 1 level sponsors of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has had many of the talented athletes benefiting from support at events in the community and at local offices.
SportsAid alumni and former Olympian, World, European and Commonwealth Champion Colin Jackson joined Local Heroes James Cooke, who competes in modern pentathlon, and Judo ace Nathan Lockey at the LTSB Office in Barnwood. Here they met with staff and gave an inspirational insight into their lives as athletes, what they have achieved and what their hopes and dreams are for the future in London 2012 and beyond.
In Croydon Local Hero and sprinter Twinelle Hopeson visited her old primary school, Hamsey Green Junior School, to take part in their Olympic themed assembly. The children at the school learned of Twinelle’s talent, achievements and dedication to her sport. The day was a great success and it is hoped events like this will inspire the next generation of British sporting champions.
