SportsAid will work in partnership with the super brand to deliver the Bursary Fund, one element of the scheme that will support emerging British talent.
A unique club of Patrons and Ambassadors representing the best of British sport will be used to inspire the next generation. Included in this list are a number of SportsAid alumni such as Dame Kelly Holmes, Denise Lewis OBE, Sir Steve Redgrave, Jamie Baulch, Dave Roberts CBE, Colin Jackson CBE, Sir Chris Hoy, Mark Foster, Jessica Ennis and Tasha Danvers.
The new and specially created website www.jaguaracademyofsport.co.uk will showcase British sport and its greatest performers past, present and future. Using social media to engage visitors the Jaguar Academy of Sport will enable a wider audience to celebrate and recognise the dedication, commitment and achievements of our country's top athletes.
Tim Lawler, Chief Executive of SportsAid said: The Jaguar Academy of Sport is such an exciting initiative at a time when British sport is really buzzing. Nurturing young sporting talent to be the best it can be is a crucial part of sport and a fundamental legacy for the future people inspire people in sport, and there's no doubt the Jaguar Academy will be inspirational. I commend Jaguar for their approach to this ambitious project and for making a commitment to the future of British sport.
Patron of Jaguar Academy of Sport and SportsAid alumni Dame Kelly Holmes said: I am delighted to be part of this initiative. Jaguar is a great British brand and its range of sports cars and sports saloons are real world beaters which being a bit of a speed girl is something I can relate to! Just as importantly the Jaguar Academy is all about helping young people to reach their sporting potential which is an area close to my heart. As such I intend to take an active role in the Jaguar Academy of Sport Bursary Fund.
