Ice Hockey Ace Meets Bank of New York Mellon Supporters

Posted on 16 Sep 2008

Thanks to our partnership with Bank of New York Mellon, ice hockey sensation James Griffin has benefited from a SportsAid grant.

The 15 year from Swindon went to meet staff at his local office to tell them about his achievements and his hopes and dreams for the future. James has been part of the England team for the past three years and was recently selected for the All Star Team at the 2008 Conference Championships. He hopes to continue his progress as part of the National team and eventually compete for Great Britain at the Olympics.

Louise Carter at Bank of New York Mellon commented:
“It was fantastic to meet James and we are all so impressed at his enthusiasm for his sport and his willingness to share that with all of us that met with him.  It was a real eye opener to understand the commitment that James, Brenda (his mum) and his family are making towards his success and if the money we have provided helps in anyway then we are very honoured to be involved.  As we told James he now has another 150 fans here in Swindon that will be watching his progress with interest.”
