Fitness First Teams Up with SportsAid

Fitness First today announced an innovative partnership with SportsAid.

The initiative over the next five years will offer more than 1,000 hopefuls on the Government-backed Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), free membership to Fitness First's 173 UK clubs – a partnership potentially worth in excess of £2million.

The exclusive agreement means that Fitness First will be the only health club group working with SportsAid, which manages the TASS scheme. It represents an investment of £2,160,000 in membership fees.

Nick Smith of Fitness First commented: "We are honoured to be helping to ensure that our talented athletes have the very best chance of succeeding at the 2012 Olympics.

"As the UK's largest health and fitness group, we currently help over 440,000 members get fit every day and are uniquely placed to offer clubs in numerous key locations. Our team of Personal Trainers and fitness staff are looking forward to working with the Olympic hopefuls' own trainers to create some future sporting champions."

Tim Lawler, SportsAid chief executive added: "We welcome Fitness First to "Team SportsAid", the group of partners who share our vision, and values, in the development of young British talent. TASS ensures that athletes have the optimal level of support to train and compete whilst studying. Our partnership with Fitness First will help us to ensure that those with a real sporting talent will be better able to reach their full potential."
