Beach walks net £30,000

More than 60 colleagues and customers of Lloyds TSB Cardnet, and their friends and family, took part in the fourth annual SportsAid beach walk this month – an event that has raised £30,000 for our athletes since it began in 2008.

To help SportsAid athletes on the Lloyds TSB Local Heroes scheme, the team had to walk a gruelling 18 miles along the South West Coast Path in Cornwall and according to event organiser Bernie Hollywood, “they have the blisters and sunburn to prove it!”

On behalf of SportsAid and all the Lloyds TSB Local Heroes athletes who will benefit from their hard work, our thanks go to everyone involved.

Alongside her colleague Jonathan Dilnot, Bernie is already putting the plans together for next year’s challenge – the fifth of the series – which being in 2012 will have a special Olympic theme. Their aim this time is to finish the challenge at an Olympic venue.

The aim was to help them prepare for competitions against better-funded, overseas athletes.
