The #MyMiles Challenge set to be brought to life by SportsAid athletes through Instagram

The #MyMiles Challenge will be brought to life during SportsAid Week as 18 young talented athletes use their Instagram accounts to provide an insight into their training schedules and the commitment, dedication and sacrifice they show in order to pursue their sporting ambitions. Each of the athletes, who are all current SportsAid beneficiaries ranging from 13 to 25 years old, will dedicate their Instagram Story to the charity.

The #MyMiles Challenge will be brought to life during SportsAid Week as 18 young talented athletes use their Instagram accounts to provide an insight into their training schedules and the commitment, dedication and sacrifice they show in order to pursue their sporting ambitions. Each of the athletes, who are all current SportsAid beneficiaries ranging from 13 to 25 years old, will dedicate their Instagram Story to the charity on set days throughout the course of the week (24-30 September).

BMX rider Ross Cullen, golfer Lily May Humphreys, taekwondo athlete Sharissa Gannaway and volleyball players Javier and Joaquin Bello have been selected to compete in the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games at the beginning of October. They will be using their Story to offer a window into their preparations before flying out to represent Team GB - allowing followers the opportunity to understand and see how they approach the build-up to a major international multi-sport competition.

Netball player Suzie Liverseidge will be in Australia with the England Under-17s. Her Story is going to highlight what it’s like to be on tour with the national team – where they will face Australia and New Zealand in Canberra – by posting about training sessions, matches and nutrition. Wheelchair fencer Oliver Lam-Watson will lead followers through his post-competition recovery and light sparring sessions upon his return from the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing European Championships in Italy.

Followers will also see a full week in the life of a young rower as Great Britain junior Joe Murphy balances his college studies with training and everything in-between. Weightlifter Chris Murray is just starting his first year at Loughborough University and will share this through his Story while gearing up towards the EWF European Junior Weightlifting Championships. Para-alpine skier Molly Griffith will take followers into her training camp on an indoor slope in Belgium during the latter part of the week.

The #MyMiles Challenge is a social media campaign designed to keep young athletes company as they train during SportsAid Week. The Challenge, which was launched in 2017, asks fundraisers to physically cover a distance of their choice - with one mile as a minimum - before nominating a friend, family member or colleague, and finishing by making a donation to SportsAid. The #MyMiles total reached 5,741 miles last year and the aim is to beat this in 2018 with YOUR help!

Here are the full set of athletes who are kindly dedicating their own Instagram Story to the #MyMiles Challenge during SportsAid Week....
