Dame Katherine Grainger appointed Chair of UK Sport

SportsAid alumna Dame Katherine Grainger has today (21 April) been appointed as the new Chair of UK Sport. Katherine, who is Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian having won medals at five consecutive Games, succeeds Rod Carr CBE and will lead the body over the next four years as Team GB and ParalympicsGB head towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

The government’s Duty of Care in Sport Review, led by Baroness Grey Thompson, has been released today (21 April). The aim of the review, launched in 2016, was to develop a comprehensive plan for how government and the whole sporting system more effectively looks after participants, whether at grassroots or elite level, including those on the talent pathway. The review covers a series of themes with a list of priority recommendations.

'MAD DOG'S MUM' - Catherine Hinch ready to take on London Marathon for SportsAid

Maddie 'Mad Dog' Hinch became a national hero last summer as her goalkeeping exploits helped lead Team GB's women's hockey team to gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Her mum Catherine, who cheered her on out in Brazil with Maddie's dad Neil and brother Lewis, will be picking up a medal of her own this Sunday (23 April) afternoon as she runs the Virgin Money London Marathon for SportsAid!
