Rhys was recently crowned Young Sportsman of the Year at the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards, an accolade that is thoroughly deserved after an outstanding year.

Supported by SportsAid partner ASDA, the 15 year topped off his year by being selected for the Under 19 England team to compete at the Northumberland International Team Event – a fantastic achievement for his age and a great opportunity to gain experience against older competitors.

Rhys competes in both the singles (his preferred event) and the doubles with partner Aaron Cheng from Surrey and has collected a number of medals including:

* 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and a Bronze at the UK School Games – making him the most successful player at the Games
* 1 Silver and 1 Gold at the Cwmbran Gold Standard Tournament – he dominated the singles, taking the gold medal without dropping a set
* 2 Gold at the York Gold Standard Tournament – beating the top pair from Scotland in the doubles

He also represented England at under 17 level reaching the quarter finals of the Langenfeld Cup in Germany losing a closely fought three game match to a player from Slovakia.

Rhys is focusing on keeping up his good form and continuing his impressive run of selection for the England team.
