At the IAAF World Youth Championships in July 2009
Jodie brought home gold in the 100m and 200m.
She ran a personal best of 11.39 in the 100m –
this was the fastest time in the world this year
and the best ever for any European female at
U18 level. She also ran a personal best in the
200m of 23.08
She has been National Champion at 60m, 100m
and 200m since 2007.
She is also ranked no. 1 at U17 level for the
400m.
She is aiming to be selected for the relay team at
London 2012 and wants to go on to take a gold
medal in 2016 in the 100m.
“My World Youth experience as a whole has
been amazing, there’s been ups and downs but
in the end it’s all paid off. I need to keep myself
grounded when I go back home.
"I’m going to go back and train harder. I want this
to keep happening, it's an amazing feeling.“
Jodie competes for Hertfordshire Phoenix and is
county champion in the 200m. She attends
Queenswood School in Hatfield, on a sports
scholarship, which has a history of sporting
success.
Speaking of her spot on the SportsAid 16 for
2016 list she said: “I’ve had such a fantastic year
on the track and now I’m more motivated than
ever before to keep doing well. Being selected as
part of this 16 for 2016 list and winning the
SportsAid One to Watch Award has been the
perfect end to the season and I’m really grateful
to be recognised for my achievements.”
