Profiles

Katie Batchelor

In September Katie was selected for the European & Africa IWWF Cable Wakeboard Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. This was her first international cable competition and she managed to win a bronze medal, coming 3rd in the girls catagory.

Since receiving her SportsAid award, Katie has been able to train more often, becoming stronger and has managed to add several new tricks to her wakeboarding trick list on cable and boat. This has fuelled her drive and determination to continue to do well at competitions.

She has had her most successful and enjoyable wakeboarding season so far. She was 2010 British Girl Champion for Boat Wakeboarding and is current Cable Wakeboarding Girl Champion and is in both the British Cable Wakeboard Team and British Boat Wakeboard Team.

Katie represented Great Britain at the Boat Wakeboard World Championships in Italy and came 4th in the girls division. Then only four days after she returned and with not much time to practice, she competed at the UK Cable Wakeboard Nationals in Cirencester and came first in the girls category. Shortly afterwards she entered the UK Open Boat Nationals and came 3rd in the open women's category despite being only 14.

Katie will be training towards the Boat Europeans which are in South Africa in February 2012.
