Joshua Bain
At the beginning of September Joshua added a Sainsbury’s UK School Games Champion’s medal to his collection, in a very successful 2011 season. In what were very difficult conditions, with rain and a soaking wet throwing circle, Joshua managed to secure the gold medal with his last throw of the Boys Ambulant Discus competition on the final day of the Games and was part of the victorious London team who amassed a total of 18 gold medals; almost twice as many as any other team.
Joshua’s season started in April with his debut in a GB&NI vest at the IWAS World Junior Games in Dubai where he won a silver in the Discus. He has since won a silver in Javelin & a bronze in Discus at the English Senior Championships and set and extended the U17 F37 Javelin record. Joshua’s target for 2012 is to defend his School Games title, as the competition will be in the Olympic Park in London, and to throw the necessary standard for discus that will put him in the mix for selection to the 2012 Paralympic team.
