Profiles

Daisy Ussher

Daisy, from Harewood in Leeds, is supported by SportsAid partner Reesdenton and has shown considerable promise in eventing so far in her young career.

She came 21st out of 100 riders at the Blair Castle International event in August 2010 and finished 2nd in the U18 category at the 2010 Belton Horse Trials. This gave her an U16 GB ranking of 2nd, but this season she will have to face the hurdle of moving up an age group – always a challenge for an emerging athlete.

Daisy’s next selection aim is to be chosen for the Great Britain Junior team, which will require a few top 3 finished at competitions this year. Daisy is sure that her future career lies in eventing and is therefore determined to get the results she needs to progress in the sport.

Daisy, who first got into equestrian sport through her mother’s interest in it, also plays lacrosse and has represented North Yorkshire at hockey. She will be working in an event yard in her next school holidays to maximise her experience with horses and the necessary equipment.

Daisy has targeted the Olympics has her long-term aim and she seems to have the necessary talent and determination to continue her development into one of Britain’s top riders.
