As the governing body of fencing we appreciate not only the funding that has gone to our fencers, but also the co-operation and partnership between SportsAid and British Fencing.
Our fencers truly benefit from the assistance they have received from SportsAid, including our World Class fencer Richard Kruse, who only last weekend won the World Cup in Copenhagen.
Once again thank you for all your help and assistance over the years and we look forward to our continuing relationship.

I was 18 years old when I received my first SportsAid grant and it was the first time that anyone other than my parents had offered me any kind of support. It was a factor in my decision to commit to my sport and also helped me plan my finances around my sporting calendar. SportsAid makes a difference, giving youngsters the chance to make that vital breakthrough and is essential in the smooth running of the talent pathway.

As someone who has received grants from a junior level right the way through to winning multiple Olympic gold medals, to me SportsAid’s support was invaluable to be able to get and stay at the top of the game. Even today SportsAid is helping to make young sports people into champions.

My fencing equipment is in constant need of repair and/or replacement, especially my swords, so this funding will greatly help in keeping my kit up to a rigorous international standard.
